The governor of Tokyo has resigned after allegations he used political funds to pay for artworks and family holidays, the latest scandal to strike preparations for the 2020 Olympic Games.
东京都知事舛添要一(Yoichi Masuzoe)提出辞职，此前他被指控动用政治资金购买艺术品和支付家人度假开销。这是打击2020年东京奥运会筹备工作的最新丑闻。

Mr Masuzoe is the second governor to quit since Tokyo won the right to host the games, adding to a plagiarism row over its logo and recent allegations of corruption during the bidding process.

Although government officials insist Mr Masuzoe’s departure will not directly disrupt preparations for the Olympics, the repeated scandals are fuelling public disaffection with the Tokyo games.

“The governor, the ruling parties and the Tokyo assembly have dealt with the matter appropriately, respecting the will of Tokyo citizens,” said Hiroshige Seko, deputy chief cabinet secretary.

Mr Masuzoe had sought to ride out the scandal since it broke a month ago with devastatingly specific allegations about resort hotel bills during the new year holidays or ¥18,050 for a tempura meal at a restaurant near his house.
